Confidence Grows When You Keep Small Promises to Yourself
It isn't a personality trait, it's something you can build...
Most people think confidence comes first.
But often it comes after.
After you have built up self-trust.
After we have realised how good we are at the thing.
After we have done the scary thing or taken the big leap.
Confidence comes from taking a risk or doing something new that feels just a little bit uncomfortable.
It comes from stepping out of the comfort of the familiar and leaping.
It isn’t just there; it’s developed over a lifetime.
It can be easily knocked, and takes effort to rebuild.
It comes from believing in ourselves, knowing that whatever happens, things will be ok.
It comes from developing resilience.
It comes from showing up, time after time and making those small gains.
It comes from every win.
It comes from every time we pick ourselves up after a fall.
It comes from keeping promises to ourselves.
It comes from developing self-respect.
It comes from creating boundaries and sticking to them.
It comes from self-talk. What we say to ourselves matters.
It comes from investing in ourselves. Emotionally, financially, and in every way possible.
It comes from making difficult choices.
It comes from speaking up.
It comes from saying no.
It comes from saying yes.
It’s complex, but confidence isn’t a personality trait.
It’s built through repeated actions that build self-trust.
The Moxie Method™
A process we can use to work through anything. Work through the principles and shift from a current position.
Built on five principles:
Meet Yourself Honestly - Look at where you are currently, how do you speak to yourself? How are your boundaries? How is your resilience? What are you good at? What is your confidence gap?
Own Your Direction - Now you know your confidence gap, what can you do to make it smaller? Make small decisions without asking permission, look inside yourself, what do you think you should do?
Expand Gently - What small risks can you take? What new promises can you make? How can you show yourself respect?
Identify as the Next Version- Talk to yourself kindly, believe in your skills and find ways to invest in yourself. Build evidence of your successes.
Establish What Protects You- Set boundaries and establish routines. Protect your energy - what can you remove from your list?
A Simple Weekly Confidence Reset
Ask yourself:
What small promise have you been postponing?
What would keeping it change?
What boundary would support you this week?
How can I identify as someone who is confident?
Can things be imperfect and visible?
Confidence is the willingness to move forward without guarantees
It grows slowly, like most things that last.
Cheering you on, always!
